COURSE DESCRIPTION

Excavated contexts are recorded on context sheets which can vary in style depending on the organisation carrying out the excavation but in general they share similar characteristics.  Learn what you  will need to fill including soil compositions, profile shapes and the difference between descriptions and discussions.

This is the primary record of the excavation both onsite and post excavation.

CERTIFICATION

Successful completion of this course shows an understanding of the subject and allows a sign off at novice level on the Context Sheet Recording section in the Archaeology Skills Passport
