COURSE DESCRIPTION

Discover the theory and practice of stratigraphic excavation in its basic forms – from isolating contexts and edges through excavation and removal of contexts in reverse stratigraphic order ( ie, in a backward chronology) Become familiar with the “isolate and dig” procedure and when to use variations of the methodology.

CERTIFICATION

Successful completion of this course shows an understanding of the subject and allows a sign off at novice level on the Stratigraphic Excavation section in the Archaeology Skills Passport
